Trade CounsellingTrade development executives work individually with Nova Scotia exporters and regularly offer information, guidance, and one-on-one counselling on all aspects of international trade. They can help identify and facilitate opportunities, partnerships, and alliances; answer specific export questions; assess export readiness; develop an export plan; and assist in preparing for trade missions, shows, and events.

Export 101This Program serves as an introduction to the basics of exporting. It is delivered regionally throughout the province, often at the request of a local business development agency or other business partner. It is generally structured as a half-day program for 6 to 10 companies, but can be flexible in its format and content.

Doing Business in ...The “Doing Business in …” program offers half-day information sessions on opportunities in selected traditional and emerging markets. Frequently offered as an introduction to a trade mission or other major initiative, these events provide valuable information on a country or region’s business environment, as well as an insight into its market opportunities. The sessions also identify sources of further information and provide an opportunity for one-on-one discussion with market specialists.

Find out when the next information session is taking place.

Trade MissionsTrade missions are a proven method used around the world to connect companies with qualified buyers in new markets. The success of trade missions is based on the skills of professional business matchmakers who identify, qualify, and arrange meetings with potential buyers, distributors, or partners in the target market. This is done on behalf of each mission participant.

Export Prospector ProgramNSBI’s Export Prospector Program (EPP) helps Nova Scotia companies uncover new markets around the world for their products and services. This program works in the same way as a trade mission, but only for a single Nova Scotia company. And, unlike a trade mission, EPP can be applied to any market and at any time. The company’s commitment is to make a market visit, personally follow up on identified prospects, and work on converting the opportunities into export sales.
